Early Life And Education
Kawas grew up in Gainesville, FL, where she attended Timber Creek Elementary School and Oakridge Middle School until her 10th-grade year when she transferred to Davidson High School. With a love for chemistry, biology, and physics, Leen was inspired by one of her most influential teachers during high school and decided to take up the career path of being a scientist. She was hired by her former professors at the Schulze laboratory at Texas A&M University to work on an endocrinology research project where she focused on researching hormones that regulate fat metabolism and insulin resistance.

Leen Kawas is the managing general partner of propel bio partners LLC, a biotechnology company dedicated to finding cures for diseases such as cancer and diabetes. The firm was formed by Leen Kawas and two other pharmaceutical industry advisors. The firm has since been involved with different biotech companies in the early stages of research and development. Kawas states that she is excited to be able to invest in a young industry that is on the brink of developing a cure for many diseases instead of just focusing on profit.
