Career
The business expert Greg Aziz graduated from Bishop’s University in 1982 and has been CEO of National Steel Car since 2004. Before that, he was president of Plasteel Holding International Inc., which manufactures plastic railcar components, and a sales and marketing executive with Nova Corp., a producer of specialty steels. In 2000, both Plasteel Holding International Inc. and Nova Corp. He has worked in the steel industry, where he acquired knowledge about the railway car(sub) manufacturing industry. He has also been the past Chairman of the Canadian Steel Producers Association and the Ontario Manufacturers’ Association of Canada.
Greg Aziz has used his positions at his former companies to promote better job opportunities for skilled Canadians by calling for the promotion of training and apprenticeships in the manufacturing industry. He was one of three CEOs who launched a campaign in 2009 to encourage governments, businesses, and academics to help develop a global strategy for advanced manufacturing skills training. Greg Aziz has created an online platform called the NSC Skills Fund. The site aggregates training courses, apprenticeship programs, and other resources to help organizations commit to training the next generation of skilled workers who are already available in Canada.
