Ross Levinsohn and His Career

Ross LevinsohnRoss Levinsohn is a fifty-nine-year-old US media executive specializing in media and technology. He is the Sports Illustrated CEO, currently called The Arena Group. He was born in NY and raised in NJ by Joyce Douglas and Jay Douglas. The American university shaped his career path by offering him a degree in broadcast communication. He married a CLIO executive, Nicole Purcell, in 2013. They both live in Los Angeles.

In 1989, Ross Levinsohn started his early career with HBO as a Time Warner Sports marketer and promoter. Seven years later, he joined SportsLine US as a producer of TV shows and a radio programmer. In 1999, he was employed by Alta Vista to launch a portal division. In 2001 he was hired by Fox Sports Interactive Media and promoted to the general manager’s position. He was made the corporation’s senior vice president until 2004, after which he was named the president. He resigned from the position in 2006 and joined the Fuse Capital venture firm in 2007.

In 2010, Ross Levinsohn was hired and made the vice president of Americas’ Yahoo as a digital advertising network operator. During his tenure, Yahoo expanded its media efforts through animated content and short film streaming partnerships. In 2012 he was made the interim CEO and later to a permanent CEO position. He also became CEO and chairman of other Yahoo partners like Guggenheim Digital Media and Scout Media. In 2017, he defended Scout Media in federal court following a bankruptcy call to sell the business.

Still, in 2017, Ross Levinsohn was hired as publisher in the LA Times and became CEO on the 21st of August. Following fake-proved claims of sexual harassment, he was placed on three weeks of unpaid leave, after which he stepped down from his position to a new role. He became the CEO of Tribune Interactive until June 2018, when LA Times ownership changed.

In June 2019, his corporation, Maven Inc., arrived at a $45-million licensing plan with the magazine’s new owner. He was made the Sports Illustrated CEO. He focused on expanding the company’s premium content and resolving the issues created by previous owners. In September, the company was rebranded as The Arena Group to reflect the previous shifts.
