Successful healthcare and business expert Ron Gutman’s father worked as a real estate developer, and his mother was a teacher and an artist. In 1980, his parents moved him with his brother and sister to New York City. He spent most of his childhood in the suburbs of Long Island before he attended college at Harvard College. In 1990, Ron Gutman graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. In 1992, Gutman graduated from the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy Studies with a Master in Public Policy degree in Health Management and Economics.
Ron Gutman began his career with the American Medical Association (AMA) as a research assistant. In 1993, he became an analyst for the Health Insurance Association of America. In 1994, he was hired by Envision Group Corporation to work as a senior financial analyst. Ron Gutman was responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the organization.
This included developing, implementing, and managing Envision Group’s revenue enhancement strategy, Ron Gutman recalls. He worked as an associate director at Cigna and later (from 1997 to 2000) as the assistant vice president and chief financial officer at Cigna Managed Care Solutions and two years later at Cigna Health Insurance Company. In 2003, Ron Gutman founded HealthApp Inc.
