Ross Levinsohn has always promoted growth in the media and technology spaces. After his first job at CBS Sportsline, he established himself as a leader in that industry. Ross then served as the President and CEO of Fox Interactive Media, where he developed the digital engagement of the company’s website. When he was the interim CEO of Yahoo, Mr. Levinsohn oversaw the firm’s $20 billion market cap. Ross also served as the CEO of Guggenheim Digital Media and managed the Hollywood Reporter, AdWeek, and Billboard Magazine.
Ross Levinsohn was the CEO of the LA Times and Tribune Publishing’s digital arm; he, therefore, has experience dealing with changing trends in media. He also has experience in front of the camera; he was an on-air contributor at CNBC. In 2020, Maven announced that Ross Levinsohn would be the new Sports Illustrated CEO. Levinsohn was also appointed CEO of The Arena Group, which had changed its name from Maven. It is a firm supplying monetization and digital backend support for Sports Illustrated and 300 other brands, including Ski Magazine, History.com, Maxim, and Biography. “We are pleased with the new chapter of our company, our partnership with, and the leadership Mr. Levinsohn will bring to The Arena Group,” said executive chairman Fichthorn John.
The Sports Illustrated CEO produces significant publications such as Parade magazines, Sports Illustrated, and online platforms such as The Spun, TheStreet, and HubPages. In the past 18 months, Ross has led a rebuild of the publishing strategy of The Arena Group. This move included sunsetting some platforms, retooling the technology infrastructure, and amending partnership economics by abolishing partner guarantees.
